Doug says the first step is to ensure that you have the right tools and platform for doing the job. They use a the Impact Radius platform. He believes it is head and shoulders above other options available on the market.

Impact Radius was one of the first Electronic Insertion Order systems. This allows businesses to set the terms of business and then automate everything including the financial transfers.

The tool also offers extensive reporting, anti-fraud and collects data from a number of different media sources, not just from the affiliate marketing.

The Depths of the Technical Side

James is particularly impressed by the level of technical aspects which go into the launching of an affiliate program. He also believes there are a number of businesses out there which don’t realise the depth of work which goes into the launch of affiliate programs.

For each client, the unique angle of what they want to accomplish has to be carefully considered to see which option is right for them. As Doug states, there are many ways to implement the technical side, however not every way is best for the client.

Sometimes when there are two or three platforms being used, there can be a lot of going backwards and forwards to make sure the programs work to their full potential.

The Problem of Fraud

One of the things which occupies Doug’s time is the mitigation of fraud and as James says, there is a high level of sophistication out there from fraudsters.

Luckily there are tools which can support in the identification and protection against fraud. However, Doug states sometimes it takes a little of the human element to identify patterns associated with fraud.
