A show all about Formula 1 from a non-technical perspective. Hosted by two dedicated Formula 1 fans, the goal is to share what we enjoy about the sport while consuming a few beverages. Fast cars, drama, team dynamics, conflicts within and across teams, money, power, history...we cover it all in short 30 to 40-minute episodes from our home position (with a not-so-secret ambition to be in the press pit someday). The more we learn the more we enjoy Formula 1... come ride with us!

Lewis Hamilton closed the deficit between him and Max Verstappen to a mere 8 points in Qatar, Alonso was back on the podium for the first time since Hungary 2014 (for reference on how long ago that was, Ricciardo won that race with Red Bull and Hamilton came in third in a McLaren!). We discuss all of that plus Christian Horner's run in with the FIA…

The 2021 Sao Paulo Grand Prix was a masterclass in racing from Lewis Hamilton, and that's really all there is to say about the entire weekend...but we covered the rest anyway. A sprint weekend meant extra drama on and off the track, with Hamilton being DQed from Friday's qualifying for a DRS infringement, Verstappen being fined 50,000 euro for touc…

Despite a front row lockout in qualifying for Mercedes, this was a race for Red Bull with Max Verstappen taking the win and Checo in P3. For all the celebrations, Checo might as well have won the race - he's now the first Mexican to take a podium in the Mexican GP and the most decorated Mexican F1 driver in history. Will Hamilton be able to come ba…

It's official: F1 has arrived in America. Although F1 has been racing at various tracks here for years (with a break for Covid in 2020), it's clear that the popularity of Netflix' Drive to Survive has introduced a new era of F1 fandom in the United States. It was a weekend of records: COTA topped 400,000 spectators for the most attended grand prix …

The weather in Turkey made the race a strategy nightmare. Teams were not sure what to do. Drivers were weather forecasters. Pit or no pit, slicks or inters. Some gambled and won, some…. Did not do so well. The race to the top continues to intensify as the Formula 1 season is close to the final stretch. Keep in touch: homepositionf1@gmail.com @homep…

Heartbreak for Lando Norris and a win for both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen - Sochi was not the boring race that we expected! With rain in the last 5 laps, absolutely everyone changed position and we're here to relive it all. Keep in touch: homepositionf1@gmail.com @homepositionf1 (twitter and instagram)…

It was a return to glory for Daniel Ricciardo at the Italian Grand Prix with his first victory since 2018 and the first McLaren victory since 2012 with Jenson Button. There was plenty of drama in the race, and we dissect the Verstappen-Hamilton crash as well as the subsequent FIA penalty. Disagree with us? Have a question or clarification? Let us k…

Can we even call the Belgian GP a "race"? In this episode we discuss the cluster that is the FIA, the Belgian GP, and we take a look at the upcoming Dutch GP at Zandvoort. Also, Leslie tries to ruin Kimi Raikkonen's reputation with slanderous lies, and we discuss the opening at Alfa Romeo and more 2022 news. Like what you hear? Give us a review whe…

A review of the absolutely stunning Hungarian GP at the Hungaroring. We cover everything from the carnage at T1 to a victory for Esteban Ocon and Alpine to double points for Williams to Mick Schumacher driving wheel to wheel with Max Verstappen. WHAT A RACE, what a weekend! In this episode we cover the action-packed weekend at Silverstone, starting with a Friday Quali followed by a Saturday Sprint and a controversial GP on Sunday. It's a shame that so much coverage goes to the Verstappen and Hamilton crash because there were so many story lines at the GP (so great to see a Ferrari on the p…

In this episode we talk about all things penalties, because the FIA made us do it. Penalties received at the Austrian GP, penalty points and what they mean for Lando Norris and other drivers dangerously close to the 12 point race ban, whether penalties are deserved or whether the FIA is inserting itself too much in the championship...it's all cover…

In this episode we review the French GP, which we had no idea would be so supremely entertaining. The 2021 season continues to deliver absolute bangers - and this was a fantastic race right down to the last lap. We also give a quick preview for the Styrian GP at Red Bull Ring. Will Red Bull extend the gap between them and Merc? Will the Styrian GP …

In the second half, we take a quick look at the news in F1 this week and give a brief preview of the French GP and upcoming triple header. What will the championship look like at the end of this weekend? Will Mercedes reestablish their dominance? Will we have…

In this episode of Home Position F1, we review the absolutely wild Azerbaijan GP which took place last weekend in Baku. Carnage at turn 15, interrupted qualifiers, tyre drama, no points for Mercedes, and a killer top three podium - this is the kind of race that turned us into F1 fans. What did you think of it? In this episode, we discuss the basics of Formula 1 tyres and give a recap of the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix. Formula 1 tyres may not be the most riveting topic, but learning about the tyres and how they are used to maximize speed in each grand prix is a huge part of understanding and enjoying this sport. You might have heard the commentators mention s…

In the first episode of this show, Javi and Leslie are setting up to start talking about all things Formula One from a fan perspective while enjoying a Kentucky Mule (or 2).
