Facing Goliath, Part I (1 Samuel 17)

The story of David and Goliath is one of the most familiar stories in the Bible. But when we cut through the familiarity, we find the future king fighting three concurrent battles: against the faithless and fearsome Goliath, against his faithless and fearful countrymen, and against the faithless and fearful King Saul. All the familiar elements of the underdog story are there. But there is a deeper and more sacred reason why David is triumphant in all three of his battles. It's more than an underdog story; it's OUR story. We all have "Goliaths" to face... how will we win the battle?
