You ask, we deliver. Following Parts 1 & 2 of our St. Louis Rams Relocation Lawsuit coverage, the people of St. Louis reached out and asked if we could have someone FROM St. Louis on to talk about the important history - and build up - to this lawsuit. We asked our contacts in the area for an appropriate guest for Part 3 of our coverage and one name kept popping up… so we HAD to get him.
Ben Frederickson (@Ben_Fred) is that man and he's our special guest this week. He’s the Sports Columnist at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and has a lot of opinions on this topic having covered the Rams firsthand and lived through the City’s efforts to save the team. Ben joins the show (6:55-55:04) to explain STL’s slow and painful divorce from the NFL, why he feels the city was unlawfully misled during these interactions, and what exactly it means to be a "Professional Liar". This includes the important backstory concerning the team’s stadium lease and the city's rejected proposal to build a new stadium. In so doing, he gives us all a window into the potential mindset of a St. Louis juror who will be called on to decide the fate of the NFL from within a St. Louis courtroom.
As is clear, the wounds are clearly still fresh in St. Louis. This will certainly factor into the jury selection process and the NFL’s damages evaluation.
