An African proverb reminds us “alone we can go faster, together we can go further.” Ubuntu is a part of Zulu life philosophy meaning “I am because we are.” In community, we embody a gestalt of consciousness - a whole that is greater than the mere sum of its parts - and each individual is uplifted because of the support of the group. How do we dedicate ourselves to the collective while maintaining a healthy sense of self and self-care?
