We are all molded by the culture we were raised in: religious, national, familial, our gender, etc. But while many of our beliefs are shaped by our culture, they don't need to be dictated by it. The narrative, and understanding, of Adam and Eve has been tainted by cultural biases, skewing the original template of the male/female relationship as God intended. With a correct view of the Fall we can change our own culture and how we treat one another, especially the opposite sex.
