The Rev. Dr. A. Stephen Pieters is a long-term survivor of AIDS, whose remarkable story will be prominently featured in an upcoming film starring Jessica Chastain, Andrew Garfield and Vincent D’Onofrio called “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”, about TV evangelists Tammy Faye Baker and her husband Jim Baker. Our guest, who was diagnosed with AIDS in the early 80s, gave a ground breaking interview in 1985 on Tammy Faye Baker’s TV show, to dispel the myths surrounding homosexuality, HIV and AIDS. That historic interview, which shook the religious world to its core, was a monumental turning point in public education and acceptance about being gay and about AIDS – especially for the Christian community. It’s been 36 years since then, and our guest has miraculously defied all the odds, and is not only still alive, but doing well.

His remarkable story of recovery serves as an inspiring example of healing and hope. He has been interviewed by the Los Angeles Sunday Times, Time magazine, Omni magazine, Life magazine, and numerous television talk and news shows including CNN, Headline News, Tammy's House Party with Tammy Faye Bakker, CBS This Morning, the Tom Snyder Show, America Talks Back, and Real Life with Jane Pauley.
