While on an extended maternity leave, Meg Staples found herself at a running event, frustrated by the lack of quality women’s athletic wear at affordable prices and inclusive sizes. Without any prior business experience, Meg used her textiles and design education to solve the problem through the business she’s founded, Her Tribe Athletics. In today’s episode, I’m talking with Meg about starting a business with no business experience, and growing slow while she maintains her career as an art teacher. The focus seems to be on growing fast these days, but you don’t have to quit your day job to start a business. A slow start can be the best way to work through the initial challenges of a new business without blowing your budget.
