Donald Trump delivered his inaugural address on January 20th, 2017. For the 2nd time in the 21st century, a president who had not won the popular vote had won the electoral vote. The race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton was a contentious one and it was in many respects a presidency defined by the norms it broke. On January 6th, 2021, a mob broke into the Capitol Building in an attack stoked by the Presidents rhetoric, as well as those of others. Trump was twice impeached by the House of Representatives and, in the 2020 election, lost the electoral and popular vote to Joe Biden – who will be sworn in as the 46th President on January 20th, 2021.
