Today is a major milestone birthday for Roddy McDowall. Were he living, Roddy would be 90 years old today.
In Celebration of this special birthday, I chose to discuss a film which was very dear to Roddy’s heart; Lassie Come Home (1943). In this film he met a young girl who would soon become his best friend for life, Elizabeth Taylor, and came to know and deeply love the dog who portrayed Lassie, and would continue to do so for several years after, Pal.
The history in this film is important to our society even today, and teaches valuable lessons that can be universally appreciated, and the story still holds emotional significance, as it continues to touch the hearts of all who view it.
