McNesby Joins; Why Are 18-Year-Olds from Suburbs Coming to Philly to Commit Crime?
Manage episode 365285392 series 1511393
Full Hour | In today’s third hour, Dom welcomes in John McNesby, President of FOP Lodge 5, Philadelphia’s police union, back onto the Dom Giordano Program to discuss the officer-involved shooting by a State Trooper of an 18-year-old involved with drag racers who closed off I95, after he allegedly ran into and injured two troopers. First, Dom plays back a clip from Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, who noted that his office will pursue drag racers with the full force of the law. McNesby responds directly to Krasner, implying that his words come a little too late after instilling policies that have enabled this behavior. Then, McNesby explains what he thinks needs to be done to address the continually growing issue in the City of Philadelphia, suggesting that these vehicles should be seized and impounded in response in hopes to deter criminals. Also, McNesby tells of the implications of this being a State officer versus one of his City officers, also explaining why there’s been such a struggle to fill Philadelphia’s ranks.
