After two decades as a traditional medical doctor, Dr. Isabel realized that our current medical system teaches dependency on medications. It doesn’t empower people to be in control of their health and give them hope. So, in 2013, I embarked on my own with the goal of helping more people, mastering the integrative approach we take today at Doctor on a Mission.
Dr. Isabel Hunsigner, founder of Doctor on a Mission, is a functional medical doctor specializing in brain health and root-cause medicine. Inspired at age five by her uncle, an anesthesiologist, Dr. Isabel’s journey into medicine began with a passion for holistic health and a desire to create meaningful change.
Initially pursuing agriculture and organic farming, she realized her calling lay in medicine, leading her to earn a degree in Molecular Cellular Developmental Biology and eventually complete medical school. Her mentor, Dr. Tom Swain, encouraged her to pursue an MD to influence change from within the system.
After 22 years in conventional medicine, Dr. Isabel shifted her focus to functional medicine, addressing the root causes of diseases like Alzheimer’s, cognitive decline, anxiety, and diabetes. Passionate about weight loss and overall wellness, she has transformed her own health and now guides patients to do the same, advocating sustainable, personalized approaches.
Dr. Isabel’s motto, “Never, ever, ever give up giving up,” reflects her resilience and dedication to empowering others to achieve lasting health and hope.
