As members of the Church (body) of Christ; true believers have been espoused to one husband, Jesus Christ and are therefore expected to remain a chaste virgin to Christ.
Consequently, they are expected not to conduct the affairs of their lives as adulterers and adultresses who engage friendship of the world and thus risk enmity with God because whoever will befriends the world is an enemy of God.
