SHEPHERDHOUSE VOICE SERIES – THE CHILD AND THE SON

TEXTS: Is. 9:6-7; Mt. 1:23 ( Is. 7: 14); Lk. 2: 39-40; He. 4: 14-16

The prophesy about Jesus in Isaiah 9:6 ‘For onto us a child is born, onto us a son is given’ captures the dual aspects of his humanity and his deity.

The fact that Jesus Christ Son of God, creator of heaven and earth entered into human life through real birth process was part of God’s mysterious process to establish full humanity of Jesus which did not in anyway negate nor diminish his divinity.

The humanity of Christ qualifies him as our high priest that can be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; he was confronted with all temptations we face daily, yet without sin. We are therefore encouraged to come boldly onto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need because Jesus, our high priest, can identify with us at a personal level, whatever we may go through in life.
