2020 was a paradigm-shifting year for so many of us for so many reasons. In this episode, we unpack the key moments that generated mass mobilizations this year. SASI collective members -- Azad, Mustafa, Nufail, Sheila and Theresa--discuss the movements we were part of, some of which we helped organize. We discuss the statement we released this year, distancing ourselves from the NYC-based organization, Sadhana. Our reasons for it and how it was received. We go through the massive anti-CAA/NRC rallies and talk about how COVID has impacted our work and also the injustices it has forcefully revealed. We discuss the Bangladeshi #metoo movement, the case that triggered the protests and carceral logics. We also discuss the Hathras case in India and caste-based sexual violence. We talk about past US elections, Kamala Harris and the need to de-auntify our conversations and talk about this self-described "top cop". We finally end with Kashmir and what COVID and a new administration means for occupied land and people. 2020 was a lot. While this is not meant to exhaustive, it attempts to capture what 2020 has been like for SASI.
