One of the most undervalued heroes in the nursing profession is the Labor & Delivery nurse. Although families are made in this department, it takes skill and critical thinking to have a successful delivery. Here comes COVID shaking things up as it has done for the last 1.5 years...the L&D nurse is faced with more than a safe delivery for mom and baby.
I am really excited for you to hear from my sister, Lynn, who lives in Arizona. She has been an L&D nurse for the last 5+ years and will share what life is like on the Labor & Delivery unit. These nurses care for moms and babies and have a truly important and heroic job. The L&D unit is not all rainbows and sunshine. These nurses endure the sadness and loss that occasionally happens, which requires strength and compassion to care for their patients and families. Lynn will talk about COVID complications for the pregnant woman and her delivery, and how crucial it is for these nurse to be on their A-game every minute of every shift!
