“I had the bug to do something different”, says George.

Having risen through the ranks at Prudential, AXA and AIG and reached senior management positions by his early 30s, George shares how his frustrations with the corporate insurance world coupled with his entrepreneurial mindset led him towards insurtech and setting up his own successful start-up.

ZA Tech, a joint venture between ZhongAn and Softbank, then came knocking. The business, currently operating across Asian markets and expanding in to Europe, offers full stack technology to insurers looking to launch digital insurance products, short-cutting the route to market from over a year to less than 3 months.

George gives his thoughts on the future of the insurance & insurtech sectors and the value high-performing insurance talent can bring to a tech business.

“You have to be comfortable with ambiguity and solving problems”, says George as he encourages those looking for a career change to get up to speed with what’s happening in the marketplace and to seek out an intermediate step to facilitate the transition.

“Most of the team are running at 110mph. People are hungry.”
