In Heb. 4:1-13, the author continues his exhortation he began in chapter 3 about the danger of hardening your heart in disbelief. The consequence? Failure to enter the rest of God. Today's lesson from Heb. 3:7-19 warns of hard heartedness, using the example of the Israelites in the wilderness as a sober reminder of hard hearts leading to rebellion and disobedience. The author warns his readers to take care and to exhort one another daily as we hold fast to our original confession.…

In 1:4-15, the author of Hebrews contrasts Jesus with angels, using Old Testament texts to demonstrate that Jesus is superior. While we aren't necessarily tempted to worship angels over Jesus, we will find it helpful and encouraging to fix our eyes on Jesus, the one true Son, the only One worthy of worship, the eternal, unchanging King of Kings.…
