Artificial intelligence is evolving at an unprecedented pace—what does that mean for the future of technology, venture capital, business, and even our understanding of ourselves? Award-winning journalist and writer Anil Ananthaswamy joins us for our latest episode to discuss his latest book Why Machines Learn: The Elegant Math Behind Modern AI . Anil helps us explore the journey and many breakthroughs that have propelled machine learning from simple perceptrons to the sophisticated algorithms shaping today’s AI revolution, powering GPT and other models. The discussion aims to demystify some of the underlying mathematical concepts that power modern machine learning, to help everyone grasp this technology impacting our lives–even if your last math class was in high school. Anil walks us through the power of scaling laws, the shift from training to inference optimization, and the debate among AI’s pioneers about the road to AGI—should we be concerned, or are we still missing key pieces of the puzzle? The conversation also delves into AI’s philosophical implications—could understanding how machines learn help us better understand ourselves? And what challenges remain before AI systems can truly operate with agency? If you enjoy this episode, please subscribe and leave us a review on your favorite podcast platform. In this episode of the Mama In Biz Podcast , we’re talking about how to craft your dream business and life—right now, not someday in the distant future. Get ready for practical tips, real talk, and a dose of inspiration to infuse joy and intention into your daily life. What You’ll Hear: Rediscovering Sparkle in Your Business (2:19): Remember why you started your business in the first place! I share how reconnecting with your "Why" can help you rediscover the simple perks & joys (or as I like to call it, your sparkle) of being a business owner. Whether it’s working at a coffee shop, having a solo dance party at your desk, or co-working with a friend, these small moments of joy can bring back that spark. I also talk about the trap of constantly pushing for the next goal and how leaving white space in your schedule for joy-filled moments can make a big difference. Finding Joy in Motherhood (20:20): There’s so much overlap between business and motherhood. Just like your business, motherhood deserves moments of joy and spontaneity. I share tips for turning mundane errands into adventures, involving your kids in everyday chores, and giving them the white space to explore, imagine, and play independently. Remember, not every activity has to revolve around entertaining your child—they’ll often enjoy just tagging along and participating in your life. The Power of Planning (28:59): Planning is crucial as a mama and business owner. It’s not just about getting things done—it’s about reducing stress and chaos while staying aligned with your goals. I explain how to plan your business around your life (and not the other way around), why I make a seasonal “bucket list” with my family, and how I prioritize my daily and weekly tasks to make space for big-picture goals without burning out. Intentional planning can actually lead to more spontaneity in both your business and life. 🎧 Tune in to learn how to create a business and life you love today—not someday! 00:00 Introduction and Free Productivity Quiz 00:50 Welcome to the Mama In Biz Podcast 01:36 Crafting Your Dream Business and Life 02:19 Rediscovering the Sparkle in Your Business 20:20 Finding Joy in Motherhood 28:59 The Power of Planning 40:48 Action Steps and Conclusion 44:15 One-on-One Coaching with Rebecca Check out the Mama In Biz Website: https://www.mamainbiz.co/ Follow Mama In Biz on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mamainbiz/ RSVP for the next FREE Mama In Biz Virtual Social Hour on December 10th at 2:00pm EST: https://mamainbiz.kit.com/673952793b Join the FREE Mama In Biz Facebook Community, to connect with fellow Mama business owners! https://www.facebook.com/share/g/5m7TKphPC46Dy2xS/ Are you a Productivity Pro or Time Wasting Whiz? In this episode of the Mama In Biz podcast, I continue sharing my intense journey to motherhood, with my sense of humor thrown in there (yep, the postpartum constipation saga continues); from leaving the hospital with our newborn, finding myself back in the ER that same night, to facing a terrifying health scare with our baby the very next day. The episode covers my experience with postpartum complications following a C-section, leading to an ER visit (or a few). I detail the harrowing account of discovering our son's dangerously low oxygen levels, the frustrating encounter with a gaslighting ER doctor, and the eventual transfer to a children's hospital. The episode recounts our week-long hospital stay filled with numerous tests, emotional turmoil, and the relief of being able to return home with strict oxygen monitoring for our son in place. I can't emphasize enough the importance of advocating for your child's health and for your own health. This episode is packed with raw, emotional moments and advice for new parents. This was not an easy episode for me to record, as I speak about some very traumatic past events, recalling the scariest moment of my entire life, but I hope by pulling back the curtain on my own story, it resonates with you in some way, inspires you and maybe helps you feel less alone. In this episode of the Mama in Biz Podcast , I continue my journey from Episode 1, sharing my son's birth story for the first time. After an unexpected early induction due to low amniotic fluid levels, my husband and I rushed to the hospital unprepared for what was ahead. From wearing compression boots for my blood clotting disorder to the painful Foley catheter insertion, labor was full of surprises and challenges. I take you through the intense and quick progression of contractions, the moment when things took a turn after my water broke and caused me to have an emergency c-section, and the unforgettable moment of meeting my son. I'll also share everything that happened in the hospital after giving birth to my son, including some hiccups and oversights that made me really have to advocate for myself and for my son. If you haven’t listened to Episode 1 yet, I highly recommend going back to hear the full backstory leading up to this moment. Tune in as I reflect on my birth story, the importance of documenting those early memories, and how, even in the chaos, it was all worth it.
