IN THIS EPISODE:
In this recording, I recognize that it's my sister's birthday. She turned 40, and I reflected on how my 40th year, this year, was the best of my life so far--even though the last few months have been seriously challenging. I also look back on my 30s, how that was a time of fun, travel, working my way up in my career, meeting new people, and immersing myself in culture.
I also continue the conversation about my disagreement with Alan. He and I talked it out more, and he was able to understand my disappointment and frustration. I explain things a little better here. It's not that I want to stifle his dreams, but I needed to set boundaries of what I was willing to do and what I wasn't. After spending months as an enabler to a friend that meant the world to me, I wasn't about to become a person who capitulated and walked on eggshells just to make my husband happy. I was going to stand my ground.
And at the end of this recording, I was interrupted by a friend of mine who just got done with an interview. I talk about how she attempted to shift from sales to marketing, and it didn't work out so well.
