In Project Dirt, Adam, a wealthy human who won a galactic lottery, purchases a barren solar system with the ambitious goal of terraforming its planets using organic waste. Despite his distaste for slavery, he reluctantly buys slaves to help with the project, vowing to give them as much freedom as possible. He struggles with the morality of his decisions while navigating the complexities of an intergalactic society where slavery is common. Adam gathers resources, builds a research station, and hires engineers to begin terraforming, facing numerous challenges, including thin atmospheres and extreme temperatures. His plan involves melting polar ice caps to thicken the atmosphere and eventually make the planet habitable, but doubts remain about its feasibility. Despite the ethical dilemmas and technical obstacles, Adam remains determined to turn the desolate world into a thriving planet.
