‘Til death do us part is probably what’s remembered most about wedding vows. Honestly, who doesn’t plan to be with the one they’re saying “I do” to until forever? As high as divorce rates continue to be, it’s not thought that most people all down the aisle with the thoughts of an end. But other than the beginning and possible end, what about the middle?
The meat and potatoes of the marriage lie with the “better or worse”. This is where the laughs and tears, the smiles and eye rolls, the butterflies and headaches all live together. Tamar Braxton once sang “Somebody said every day was gon' be sunny skies,
Only Marvin Gaye and lingerie, I guess somebody lied”. And that is the absolute truth any married person can attest to. But the “better and worse” is all worth it when it’s the one your soul needs.
No one can truly say how they would react if tragedy struck in their marriage. One would hope their spouse would be by their side under any and all circumstances. Sickness & health. Richer or poorer. For better or worse. But what happens when vows are tested and real decisions are to be made? Can you say you’re down for the ride?
