Reclaiming the Promise of God's Best

Pastor's Email: January 22, 2021 Church Family, Paul wrote to the Corinthian Church in his second letter, 'For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.' 2 Cor. 1:20 NKJV I really like the way the NIV translates this verse, 'For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.' The New Living Translation gives this rendering, 'For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.' Each version gives us insight into what Jesus has done for us. In His life, death, burial and resurrection, He has placed an empathetic YES on every promise God has ever made to man. Every promise! Think about that for a moment. Have you ever thought or even said, 'well that is not for me or that is not for this time, or I am not good enough to receive that promise?' If so, Paul writes this verse to correct your thinking. Every promise is YES in Jesus. Stop wishing and start believing. Start confessing and practicing the Word of God. There is an old hymn that was used almost every service in the little country church where I grew up. I can still see my Dad or Aunt Rachel standing on that tiny platform, singing to an out of tune piano, Standing on the promises. The words that run through my mind this morning go like this: Standing on the promises that cannot fail, when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail, by the living Word of God I shall prevail, standing on the promises of God. Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Savior; standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God Just let the wonderful thought of all God's promises being YES in Jesus fill your heart today. That thought will calm your fears, dry your tears, remove your anxiety, bring assurance of your eternal salvation, bring confidence in His ability to provide, guide, heal and deliver. That thought will become the engine that sparks your faith, raises your spirit and causes you to live in Divine HOPE! Every promise is YES in Jesus. The scripture goes on to say, 'and through Him the Amen is spoken by us!' Wow! How powerful is that? God is using our relationship with Jesus to confirm His Word in and over our lives. That thought should fill us with thanksgiving and praise to the Most High God! We are a part of fulfilling God's plan! Join us Sunday Morning. For too long, believers has settled for less than God's best. This Sunday, we are going to reach forward for every good gift God has to offer us. Bring your family and friends who are struggling.
