Why Do We Fast? (21 Days of Prayer & Fasting Kickoff Message)

Pastor Micah set the stage for our upcoming 21 days of corporate prayer and fasting by sharing a message entitled "Why Do We Fast?" In this message Pastor Micah looked at 8 different stories from scripture that helped us realize 9 different reasons why we fast. This is by no means an exhaustive list of why we fast, but gives a very clear introduction to why we fast. Pastor Micah also shared various different forms of fasting that are found throughout the Bible. We're excited to see what God does in our hearts and through our lives over these 21 days as we set time aside as a church to pray and fast!
Bottom Line: It’s important to remember that fasting is not some magical formula or arm twisting that we do to get something that we want from God. God is most interested in our heart posture and our relationship with Him. He wants our fasting to be a reflection of our desire to draw near to Him. To seek His heart and hear His voice is the goal.
