Whether you're renting or buying a home in the Denver area, the monthly cost is pretty steep for a lot of people.

How do you save up for a deposit or a down payment? How about living for free in exchange for pet sitting or housesitting?
If you're feeling stressed out about your living situation, take a breath! Housesitting might be a way for you to have some adventures and save up some money.

In this episode, Joan shared how she has been housesitting for nine months. She's taken care of seven dogs and four cats, and will have completed eight housesits by March 22, 2022.
Tip:

• Use "Trusted Housesitters" to find stays. Set your filter to the minimum amount of time you'll consider, such as 2+ weeks.
• Develop trust through communications. Ask what level of communications the homeowner prefers. Don't assume!
• Be prepared to handle anything and everything from being locked out, to nearby fires, and hurt or lost pets.
• Use the experience to meet new people or connect with friends in the area. Explore hiking and local sights.
• Be careful of having too many expectations. Weather and other circumstances can prevent or open up possibilities.

• Register with Trusted Housesitters $12/month
• Storage unit $125/month
• PO Box: $13/month
• Total: $150/month

Monthly Savings:

• Rent and parking: $850/month
• Internet: $100/month
• Total: $950/month

Additional Costs:

• AirBnb for 18 days: $1,400
• Hotel for 3 days: $200
• Total: $1,600

Total Savings:
(($950.mo - $150/mo) x 9 months) - $1,600 = $5,600
