Joining Kit Marie from the Northeast hub is Stephen Blenkinsop, talking about culture in the Northeast, inequality in the Northeast, his love of Spain, Doctor Who and more! Stephen is Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering at Newcastle University and their Regional Hub Lead for the Climate Ambassadors scheme. He grew up in NE England and after A-Levels went to work in a bank - Went to uni in his mid-twenties where he did – yes, geography! Followed by a Masters in GIS. Stephen then went to work for a GIS company before doing his PhD at the Climatic Research Unit where he was privileged to study under Professor Phil Jones. Stephen then came back to his native north-east where I have remained since. He has a love of Spain (his husband is Spanish) but is a very slow learner of the language!
