Gene Baur is the founder of Farm Sanctuary, a place of rescue, refuge, and adoption for hundreds of farm animals each year. Farm Sanctuary shelters enable visitors to connect with farm animals as emotional, intelligent individuals. Gene has also led campaigns to change laws about animal treatment and taken undercover photographs of farms, stockyards, and slaughterhouses, documenting deplorable conditions. His pictures and videos exposing factory farming cruelties have aired nationally and internationally, educating millions about the plight of modern farm animals, and his rescue work inspired an international farm sanctuary movement. Once called “the conscience of the food movement” by Time magazine, Gene walks the walk and talks the talk when it comes to food and animal rights. Jay and Gene discuss the political and cultural steps that will bring about the end of factory farming and a healthier approach to animals and food. In this episode, I talk all things change and Thinking Environment with the glorious Sophie Stephenson. The Thinking Environment provides an experiential way of learning how to do the good thinking that leads to good doing. About the Thinking Environment (taken from Sophie's website) "The Thinking Environment was originally conceived by Nancy Kline, Time to Think, who observed that ‘ the quality of everything that we do depends on the quality of the thinking that we do first’. Thinking matters – it precedes, runs through and impacts on the things that matter most – our lives, families, friendships and relationships, our work and endeavours, the way we are with the world. It shapes the decisions we make and the things we surround ourselves with – ultimately, it creates our happiness. If we want to make good decisions, solve problems creatively, innovate, communicate well, have good relationships, mediate our way through challenging situations, think about how we can solve our own problems as well as those facing the world, we need to think well individually and in groups." In this episode, Hodan Noor, coach and change maker, talks honestly about her own personal journey through change and how this has shaped her approach to change in general. A key theme is about how important it is to really know ourselves before change can happen. To understand our stuff and how that impacts on the people around us and how vitally important managers can be to the success of their people, and therefore, change. Our chat also highlights the importance of people having time to develop through coaching, learning and development and even more simply, time to reflect and answer key questions. The honesty and humility in this episode is exquisite. I can't wait to hear what you think. You can find out more about Hodan on Twitter @HodanNoor2 or find her on LinkedIn.…

In this episode, I have a heartfelt conversation with Gemma McDonald, an independent change agent and all round brilliant human. Through our conversation, we hear about Gemma's experience of change in the banking sector and in the NHS. We discuss the key themes she has seen and how we need to stop being so 'institutionalised' in our thinking about work, and therefore change. A key theme throughout is the importance of the individual and therefore the importance of good self-insight and mental health. We bond over both being seen as 'rebels' too. She paints a bright future for change if we can just start getting into the depths of what it is all really about. You can find out more about Gemma and chat to her on Twitter @GemmaVMcd She also mentions; @EnergyProjectUk @SeaSaltLearning & @JulianStodd Apologies there may be some background rustling in this episode but it is hopefully easy to ignore with all the good stuff you will be hearing.…
