Raising kids who don't see the other parent or whose family members from the other side are not present is difficult. Growing up, kids are curious about the other family members and as a result their innocent little minds don't recognize the problems that await them. Kids become victims of rejection from the other members, maybe sexual abuse and emotional trauma. Please always see your child's best interest when allowing them to interact with relatives they don't know. Don't force your kids to mingle with people who might not be safe for them, in exchange for a few hours of free time.
