Join us for a wide-ranging discussion of climate catastrophe and the challenges in confronting the state and market behind the disaster. Climate catastrophe is intensifying at an alarming pace. Capital and governments clearly have no intention of stopping it; for them, free markets, private property rights, and accumulation remain sacrosanct, even if that means a massive amount of death, suffering, and destruction. Meanwhile, despite occasional moments of mass militancy in the face of ecological crisis, movements for climate justice remain far from being able to mount serious opposition to the power of the state and capital. The challenge is significant, even epochal, and we are so far unable to meet it. Join David Camfield, Sabrina Fernandes, and Richard Seymour – three socialists who have written about climate justice – for a wide-ranging discussion of this predicament and how we might overcome it.
