"Black Girl's Eat", Cultivating Black Health Consciousness: An Interview with L.A. Dunn
Manage episode 407397090 series 3560711
In this interview as part of Afros & Audio's Black History Month series, host Talib Jasir speaks with L.A. Dunn, the founder of the Black Girls Eat Podcast.
L.A. discusses her journey to promoting a plant-based diet and educating her listeners about healthier lifestyle choices, particularly in underrepresented communities.
She shares how her own health scare led to the creation of her podcast and stresses the importance of authenticity as a podcast host. Dunn also explores the struggles she has faced in her mission, such as the lack of dieticians in communities of color and the barriers to becoming a nutritionist.
In facing these challenges, she decided to pursue a second master's degree in dietetics to lend credibility to her platform and help change the narrative around health and wellness in her community.
L.A. plans to use her platform to highlight the positive changes happening in the Bronx food scene and to encourage her audience to explore different food options.
