Ruby Namdar, Israeli author in New York: ״For the first time in my life I felt that I did not belong anywhere, not in Israel and not in the US״
Ruby Namdar won the important Israeli literature Sapir Prize for his book, The Ruined House. After he won, a decision was made to limit the future eligibility only to writers who live in Israel.
“I was personally offended by the decision to exclude us, ex-pat Israeli authors, from the Sapir Prize, Israel’s most prestigious literary award,” he said.
