As digital transformation ramps up, the competencies needed to drive industrywide change are more keenly sought after than ever.Often, the gap between experts in their domains, and the data scientists who implement transformative processes is wide, necessitating intermediaries to deal with the complexities involved. But what if the domain expert and the data specialist were the same person? In this podcast, we look at SLB’s Domain Data Science (DDS) program, which was established to transform domain experts into data scientists, through a blend of theory and hands-on, real-world business experience. We speak with the architect of the DDS initiative, Nikhil Choudhary, learning and competency manager at SLB D&I, and one of the program’s first graduates, domain data scientist – subsurface, David Manzano, about their goals and the finer points of the DDS experience.
