The beauty of Advent lies in the overwhelming goodness of the good news: God sent His Son, Jesus, to atone for our sins. What we could never accomplish on our own, God did for us through the birth, life, death, and resurrection of His Son. The angel’s proclamation to the shepherds in Luke 2 is the ultimate good news: “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
This isn’t just any good news—it’s the best news the world has ever heard. Jesus, the Savior, entered our brokenness to redeem it. The bad news doesn’t get the final word; the good news does. And this good news is for all people. It’s a message of hope and salvation.
Hebrews 13:20-21 (ESV): “Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
