August 14, 2004, where they made several minor purchases, including a few small bottles of Tabasco sauce. Subsequently, they traveled 60 miles north to Bodega, California, and visited a local surf shop to inquire about potential accommodations. As stated by Spencer Brady, Chief Deputy District Attorney of Sonoma County, the couple's movements became somewhat unclear after their interaction with the surf shop owner; however, they ultimately ended up at Fish Head Beach.
The news of the double homicide spread rapidly through the media, resulting in over 1,000 tips being submitted to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. On Saturday, August 21, 2004, a woman contacted the station and directed investigators to her boyfriend, Shaun Gallon, a local individual with a criminal background who was described by Det. Horseman as “doing weird things.
District Attorney Brady informed Final Moments that Gallon was familiar to law enforcement and had a history of significant substance abuse, along with a penchant for hunting, identifying himself as a sort of survivalist.
Detectives proceeded to Gallon’s residence in Guerneville, located slightly more than 10 miles northeast of Jenner. There, they discovered bulletproof vests, firearms, and a spear. However, there was no direct evidence linking Gallon to the crime scene, particularly since the perpetrator of the murders of Cutshall and Allen was believed to have removed the shell casings from the beach, rendering ballistics analysis unfeasible.
