Defying the Large Neck police, Rock Handy continues his pursuit of a bank-robbing ventriloquist. Nix Salmon uncovers fresh clues thanks to the industrious street orphan Buddy Boseman. The detectives get hired by a bank president who believes the Left Handed Quist may be targeting more than his branches. Newly arrived agricultural crimes inspector Chase Perkins becomes a prime suspect until the bank president’s daughter presents Nix with an arresting piece of evidence.
