Welcome to the Saving Throes podcast! This is my Tabletop role-playing game podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.
Independent RPG month returns for 2024 with a look at 2 indie darling games. I backed Knave 2e on kickstarter last year and received the package not too long ago and have since been diving into this updated system with enthusiasm. I was initially wondering how Ben Milton would pull off expanding such a small game with this edition, but what I found was a robust set of tools for any GM and for any D20 fantasy system that justified this book. I opted to also look at Cairn 1e in this episode as this game springboarded off of Knave, and similarly also has a second edition that is greatly expanded (although that one is still in the works, yet to be released).
