The federal government is being urged to do more to help Palestinians in Gaza and Australia, as fighting spreads across the Middle East more than a year on from the October 7 attacks.

Last night, pro-Palestinian groups marked the anniversary with vigils, defying criticism from across the political spectrum over the timing of the events.
