Sharon Bryan has worked in the Violence against Women and Girls (VaWG) sector for 26 years. Most of those, front line, supporting and advising victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
Sharon has worked in refuge and from 2000 to 2004 was a trustee for the Women’s Aid Federation of England. In 2004 Sharon developed the first Independent Domestic Violence Advocacy service in Westminster, London and was one of the first ever people to qualify as an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA), having been asked to attend the pilot for the SafeLives IDVA training.
Sharon worked for 16 years in Westminster, helping to establish the Westminster MARAC and sitting on its panel for 14 years. She worked as the Senior Domestic Abuse Consultant, co-located with Westminster Children’s Services for 11 years.
In 2021, Sharon joined the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV), as the Head of Partnerships and Development of Domestic Abuse Services.
Sharon has won several awards along the way for her work with victims and survivors of domestic abuse and has gained national recognition for her work.
Sharon is a survivor of domestic abuse.
