This week, Sara, Runa, and special guest Mari continue communing with the spectral rooftop lesbians in Kindred Spirits on the Roof! In this episode we'll go through the ending of the game and dip just slightly into its deep well of extra content, following Yuna and the other Shirojo students through the fall School Festival and then on toward the end of the calendar year. As the school festival draws to a close, Hina comes to Yuna with a bright smile and tells her something that will send her spiraling into emotional turmoil throughout most of October...
As mentioned in our previous episode, Kindred Spirits on the Roof (2012/2016 English Release) is a kinetic novel that focuses on protagonist and 2nd year high schooler Yuna as she meets two ghosts on her school's rooftop, then promptly gets pulled into a year long quest to help other students at the school come to terms with and act upon the feelings they have for other girls. Sachi and Megumi, the titular Kindred Spirits, find girls who seem to have romantic feelings for their classmates, seniors, fellow club members, or friends and work with Yuna to find out how they can assist each of these girls in conveying their feelings. Sachi, who died over 80 years prior, has witnessed so many girls who fell in love and then never had the chance or felt secure enough to confess that love, and so she's determined to make sure that this school, at least, can be a place where those feelings can flourish. In the first half of the game, we saw Yuna work with the Kindred Spirits as they helped other girls around school to come to terms with their feelings, confess to the girls they loved, or resolve some of the barriers that kept them from opening up to others. Yuna, herself, has changed a great deal since then and it seems that she may be one of the only ones who hasn't noticed just yet...
Please note that this is a game with sexual content and while we don't talk about it in detail, it is something we discuss briefly throughout the episode.
