The ILA president is reported to earn $900,000 per year in salary, drive a Bentley and even own an expensive 76-foot yacht. There is also a better than average likelihood he may be familiar with violence.
, when you combine artificial intelligence, automation, robotics and remote access capabilities, it is clearly predictable that a time will come when 80% of the ILA jobs can be replaced by remote controlled operational systems.
In China, many industrial ports are already fully automated and operated remotely by people using what look like gaming consols, robotics and computer screens.

Bank of America is experiencing a nationwide outage that is impacting tens of thousands users.
Downdetector, a site that monitors online issues, shows problems struck around 1pm ET, as users reported online and mobile banking and ATM services are down.
Some Bank of American customers have also reported their accounts are showing an empty balance.
As of 1:20pm ET, roughly 20,000 Bank of America had reported outages to Downdetector.

Vance-Walz debate moderators asked boring as heck questions about global warming, etc., ignoring topics voters want to hear about

CBS debate moderators Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan weren’t as overtly biased at the vice presidential debate last night as ABC News’s David Muir and Linsey Davis had been at the previous one between President Trump and Kamala Harris, what with the one-way fact-checking and the three-against-one questioning.
But they managed to get their bias in all the same — by asking boring, irrelevant questions on topics most voters couldn’t care less about — global warming, for one, the threat to democracy,” child care, and abortion which are important only to Democrats. And in so doing, they ignored significant topics, like government spending, Ukraine, election integrity and other topics that voters of all stripes consistently tell pollster are most important to them.
It amounted to bias by omission.
Witness the opener, beginning with the newsy question about the Iran’s attack on Israel, which produced no fireworks there, followed by the Hurricane Helene question, which O’Donnell completely framed around the boring, irrelevant issue of global warming.
The story there is that the storm was big and the federal response was inadequate — they’re still in lumbering meetings over at FEMA, while the private sector, including President Trump and Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis, have already begun getting aid to the devastated. That didn’t get talked about at all — and since FEMA is the government, a serious question would have been what they’d do to turn around that agency, whose response has been inadequate for years — witness Lahaina — given its expanded budget, and mission creep, in feeding, transporting, and housing illegals. It doesn’t do anything well at all any more and here are the two guys who could do something to fix it.
According to Pew Research, climate change ranks at rock bottom among the most important issues to voters — among both Democrat and Republican voters. Same with Gallup, which notes that it ranks down there with cancer, infrastructure, elder care, and child care among the top issues of the day, with 2% of the voters saying that for them, it was the Big One.

Fact Check: Tim Walz Incorrectly Recounts Georgia Woman’s Sepsis Death to Push Abortion Agenda

CLAIM: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) claimed during debate that Georgia mother Amber Nicole Thurman died in the “journey back and forth” from Georgia to North Carolina while seeking an abortion.
Verdict: False. Thurman died of sepsis in a hospital after experiencing complications from taking abortion pills to end her pregnancy with twins. Liberal outlet ProPublica published her story in September and blamed Georgia’s six-week abortion restriction for her 2022 death without clear evidence. The report notably cites a state committee, which said that Thurman may have had a “good chance” of surviving if the hospital had performed a D&C earlier to remove the remaining fetal tissue from her uterus.

There’s a young woman named Amber Thurman. She happened to be in Georgia, a restricted state. Because of that, she had to travel a long distance to North Carolina to try and get her care. Amber Thurman died in that journey back and forth.

Thurman did travel to North Carolina for a surgical abortion, but she missed her appointment and was given abortion pills instead, ProPublica reported. Thurman took the legally obtained pills when she was back at her home in Georgia.
Days after she took the second pill, Thurman reportedly began experiencing extremely heavy bleeding. By August 18, 2022, she vomited blood and passed out at home, leading to her boyfriend calling for an ambulance. She was transported to Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge that evening, ProPublica reported.
The hospital allegedly waited approximately 20 hours to perform a D&C even though she had been diagnosed earlier with “acute severe sepsis.” By the time of the procedure, her organs were failing and she needed a hysterectomy, the report alleges. Thurman’s heart ultimately stopped and she died during surgery.
Every abortion restriction in the United States notably contains exceptions for extreme medical emergencies and the life of the mother, and courts have ruled that these laws do not require “imminence” or “certainty” before a doctor can act to save a patient’s life. Furthermore, no law criminalizes care for miscarriage or ectopic pregnancies, conditions which can be life-threatening.

Israel’s foreign minister declared UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres ‘persona non grata’ and was henceforth banning him from entering Israel, according to a post on X/Twitter on Wednesday.

US sends second aircraft carrier group to Middle East – here are all the military assets in the region

The US ordered its nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to remain in the Middle East and a second vessel is en route with Middle East tensions at a fever pitch following Iran’s attack on Israel, officials said.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said the USS Abraham Lincoln will stay in the Middle East as the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier speeds along to the region, according to the Pentagon.
The Truman, another Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, was originally set to replace the Lincoln before Austin ordered the presence of two warships in the region.
The vessel was previously in the Middle East during the early years of America’s war in Iraq and later oversaw 2,900 combat missions during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
The USS Georgia guided-missile submarine arrived in the Middle East earlier this month specifically to aid Israel in the event of an attack from Iran or Hezbollah.
The nuclear-powered sub is armed with cruise missiles capable of intercepting attacks from the looming attacks from Iran and its terror proxies.

CLAIM: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) during the vice presidential debate on Tuesday defended the Obamacare individual mandate, saying that insurance plans would “collapse” without a penalty for Americans who opt out of buying health coverage.
FACT CHECK: False. The Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate was effectively repealed under former President Donald Trump, and in the past seven years, the lack of an individual mandate has not caused any market collapse.
Walz said that Republicans “fought tooth and nail” to eliminate the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) individual mandate to purchase health insurance.
Vance then asked Walz, “You think the individual mandate is a good idea?”
Walz responded, “I think the idea of making sure the risk pool is broad enough to cover everyone, that’s the only way insurance works. When it doesn’t, it collapses.”

The Trump Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which Republicans and Trump signed in 2017, repealed the individual mandate — or, more technically, it reduced the penalty for not having insurance to $0.
Walz claimed that, without the Obamacare individual mandate, the Obamacare marketplace would collapse.
It has been over seven years since Republicans repealed the individual mandate and the Obamacare marketplace has not collapsed.
This backing of the individual mandate would appear to go against Harris’s pledge not to raise taxes on those making less than $400,000 per year.

CLAIM: Moderators of the vice presidential debate Tuesday evening on CBS claimed that democracy is the #2 issue in the country, behind the economy and inflation.
VERDICT: False. The second most important issue in the country, according to the vast majority of polling over the course of the campaign cycle, is immigration.
Toward the end of the debate, one of the moderators moved on to the issue of protecting democracy, which she claimed is the second most important issue to voters.
However, her assertion — that democracy is the second most important issue — is false. Poll after poll throughout the election season has clearly shown that immigration is the second-most important issue in the country, behind economic issues.
September’s Harvard/Harris survey clearly showed price increases and inflation as the top issue — 42 percent chose it as the most important issue facing the country. Right behind it, 33 percent identified immigration as the top issue facing the country. Behind that came economy and jobs (29 percent), health care (17 percent), and women’s rights (16 percent).
A June Cygnal survey showed a plurality, 27.9 percent, choosing inflation and the economy as their top priority, followed by — yes — illegal immigration with 19.7 percent. In that survey, “threats to democracy” actually came in behind with 15.3 percent.

CLAIM: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) said that “Donald Trump hasn’t paid any federal tax in the last 15 years.”
VERDICT: FALSE. This recycles an old claim about Trump’s taxes that has long been debunked.
Democrats came up short in their attacks on Trump’s tax returns.
It is true that there were years when he only paid a nominal amount of federal tax — 10 out of 15 years, at one point in time, which may be the source for Walz’s false “15 years” claim — but Trump did pay more taxes in other years, and he did file tax returns. Trump simply did what other Americans do: find legal strategies to reduce his taxable income.

Counting or certification of the November election results are likely to be delayed nationwide, as states are promulgating different rules on receiving mail ballots, ongoing and likely election litigation, and possible investigations over irregularities, warns an election integrity proponent.

New research from the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) found that 39 per cent of the almost 6,000 global organizations they surveyed admit they are experiencing more cyberattacks, and 15 per cent of them are suffering from more privacy breaches compared to a year ago.
The study also revealed that cybersecurity teams in Europe are struggling to keep up with the attacks.

Cybersecurity head says there’s no chance a foreign adversary can change US election results

Security for America’s election systems has become so robust that Russia, Iran or any other foreign adversary will not be able to alter the outcome of this year’s presidential race, the head of the nation’s cybersecurity agency said Wednesday.

Jen Easterly told The Associated Press in an interview that voting, ballot-counting and other election infrastructure is more secure today than it’s ever been.
“Malicious actors, even if they tried, could not have an impact at scale such that there would be a material effect on the outcome of the election,” said Easterly, director of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.
Federal agencies have warned of growing attempts by Russia and Iran in particular to influence voters before the Nov. 5 election and election conspiracy theories have left millions of Americans doubting the validity of election results.
Easterly said those efforts are primarily aimed at sowing discord among Americans and undermining faith in the security of the nation’s elections.

DHS warns of risks around Oct. 7, November election in annual threat assessment

The 2024 election and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East are among the elements contributing to a high threat level in the U.S. going into 2025, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) concluded in its annual threat assessment.
The report falls just days ahead of the first anniversary of the Oct. 7 attack Hamas carried out in Israel, sparking a war that has now expanded across the region.
Lone wolf actors and small groups continue to present the greatest terror risk within the U.S., influenced both by domestic and international developments.
“Over the next year, the terrorism threat environment in the Homeland will remain high. We are particularly concerned about a confluence of factors this year, including violent extremist responses to domestic sociopolitical developments — especially the 2024 election cycle — and international events that domestic and foreign violent extremists likely will use to justify or encourage attacks,” the report concluded.
China, Russia and Iran remain among the U.S.’s greatest adversaries and most likely to target critical infrastructure as well as seek to undermine U.S. elections.
