The Merely Players Theatre Company is excited to present the modern musical “Hands on a Hardbody” directed by Dallas Padoven who joins me as well as Zachary Chiero a main actor in the play.

The Merely Players Theatre Company has been bringing professional theatre to the Durango community since 1994 when it was founded by Mona Wood-Patterson and her husband Charles Ford. In this episode I have the pleasure of speaking with Dallas Padoven who is directing the upcoming performance of “Hands on a Hard Body” and the very talented actor Zachary Chiero who plays the role of Benny Perkins. Benny is one of ten characters who are hoping to win a Nissan truck by keeping at least one hand on the vehicle for longest amount of time only stopping for 15 minutes every six hours. It’s a heartwarming story based on a true documentary film created in 1997 where there is humor and disappointment, highlighting the very real lives of the characters. The music which includes country, rock and blues was created by band members of the well known group, Phish. The brilliant set design which once again is created by Charles Ford includes his Nissan truck as a major star in the musical including it’s own bio. Dallas is also head of the theatre department at Farmington High School and Zachary is the associate director of Merely Players keeping them very busy! The performances take place at The Merely Underground 789 Tech Center Drive, Durango. The play opens this Friday December 1st and runs through Sunday December 10. There are six evening shows at 7pm and two matinees. At 2pm. These shows are sold out but you can check the Merely Players website for all the wonderful upcoming shows this season.
