Born into a difficult family situation, Bianca was largely raised by her older sister and found a second family within the church community at Bethel Assembly. The love and support she received there shaped her future and gave her the foundation to pursue her dreams. Bianca originally planned to become a teacher, but while working as an aide in a nursing home, a mentor recognized her compassion and encouraged her to consider a career in nursing. Although she initially doubted her abilities, she went on to earn a degree in Early Childhood Education before ultimately finding her calling in healthcare. Today, she not only serves as a nurse educator but also works alongside her husband, Dr. Bill Cox, at his internal medicine practice, helping patients navigate their health journeys with knowledge and confidence. Throughout her life, Bianca has witnessed firsthand the challenges within the medical field, particularly the spread of misinformation that leaves patients feeling lost and fearful. She believes that finding a compassionate and trustworthy doctor is crucial to receiving quality care. Her husband, Bill, has been a role model in this regard, having been called to medicine at the age of five through a dream. For him, medicine is not just a profession but a purpose, and Bianca admires his unwavering dedication to his patients. Beyond her career, Bianca is passionate about encouraging others to overcome adversity. She shares how a teacher once told her she would never go to college, a statement she refused to accept. Instead, she held onto the belief that her future was not determined by her past. She credits her faith for guiding her path and often reflects on the promise of Jeremiah 29:11, which speaks of God’s plans for a hopeful future. Bianca is also a strong advocate for the work being done at Dallas Metro Ministries. She believes in the power of investing in people’s lives, not just through temporary assistance but by equipping them with the skills and opportunities to build a better future. She sees this mission as an extension of her own life story, a testament to the importance of community, faith, and perseverance. Our host Pastor Clay welcomes missionary Billy Wilson. Billy Wilson, a retired missionary, received his calling at the young age of 12 when he envisioned himself preaching to a sea of African faces during a youth rally. Despite initial doubts about his ability to fulfill such a role, Wilson pursued his calling by attending Bible school, where he met his wife, Jo. Together, they began their life of missionary work in Africa, first in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo), and later in Rwanda, where they helped rebuild churches and communities in the aftermath of civil wars and genocide. Their early experiences in these war-torn regions deeply shaped their resilience and commitment to their mission. After nearly two decades in Central Africa, Billy and Jo considered retiring from missionary work but felt compelled to continue when they learned about the unreached tribes in Madagascar. In 2013, they moved to the southeastern coastal town of Manakara, a remote area on the edge of the rainforest. There, Billy played a key role in planting churches in isolated villages, where animism and witchcraft dominated, and modern conveniences were scarce. His mission focused on spreading the message of Jesus in these villages, where the locals responded favorably after witnessing the power of God surpassing that of their traditional witch doctors. The Wilsons’ influence extended beyond their personal efforts as they trained young Malagasy church planters, many of whom walked for days through the bush to attend training. Although Billy and Jo have now fully retired from the missionary field, their decades-long dedication left an enduring legacy of faith and service in some of the most remote and challenging parts of Africa.
