After gaining fame on American Idol, Katharine McPhee initially pursued a music career, but things didn’t go as planned. Undeterred, she switched gears to acting and, in 2012, landed a role that seemed tailor-made for her: playing a Broadway hopeful in NBC’s “Smash.”
Produced by Steven Spielberg, the show quickly brought McPhee back into the spotlight. Her performances were a hit, earning rave reviews and showcasing her versatility as an entertainer.
