Let's get to our deep dive book recommendations! Megan and Marissa start off by discussing their most recent reads: Marissa lists her four reads and Megan talks about the book she's currently working on finishing.

From there, we dive into topic of the week: What book do you love that isn't mainstream, but you wish it was? Marissa starts off by discussing We All Love the Beautiful Girls by Joanne Proulx, a novel based in suburban Quebec that narrates the unfolding of a family after two tragedies. Megan goes on to discuss The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones: a fantasy novel about Ryn, a gravedigger. Marissa talks about Pure by Julianna Baggott, a book about a dystopian world in which people are fused with objects.

Megan, sticking with her theme about bones, mentions The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco, which tells the story of Tea, who accidentally resurrects her brother from the dead, revealing her necromancy powers. Keeping with the darker theme, Marissa mentions The Little Black Book of Stories by AS Byatt, a collection of five short stories centred on chilling, almost ghost-story-like tales. Megan continues by talking about The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen: a novel about the Crow caste who are contracted to find a dead prince but end up finding something else. Marissa ends it off by discussing one of her favourite books of poetry: I Have to Live by Aisha Sasha John, which centres on the need to survive.

From there, we discuss our upcoming reads and announce our next podcast topic.
