Evolution of Indian Television Shows (Part 1)
Manage episode 244523436 series 2558000
After a short break and a self-important mid-season meeting, the hosts of the Fourth Seat podcast are back with yet another episode of ranting, reminiscing and analyzing. This is the IPL season and the Fourth Seat podcast is`nt one to miss out on content. However, the focus of the first half of this episode is not on the actual cricket but the Mumbai Indians Netflix documentary. The hosts discuss how Akash Ambani is a visionary team owner and Tendulkar is an inspirational leader. With the help of Vinod Kambli, they quickly transition into what is the flavor of this season, nostalgia. They kick off with some discussion of the early days of cable television and some good quality content on Indian TV in the 90s. What resulted in the rapid decline in the quality of Indian TV shows in the early 2000s? Why did an audience that watched shows like Wagle ki Duniya, Malgudi Days and Byomkesh Bakshi lap up shows like CID and Naagin? We then wrap up with some good memories of high-quality cartoons on Cartoon Network of the 90s. All this and more on this episode of the Fourth Seat Podcast.
(This is the first of a 2-part series on Indian Television. Stay tuned for the next episode that will be out next week).
