The contest was won by the National League, which defeated the American League 5-to-3. The Most Valuable Player of the game was Willie Mays, who hit a homer and scored two runs. This was the first baseball all-star game to be played at night, and featured 21 future hall of famers, including Mickey Mantle, Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, and Hank Aaron.
