“We don't want Idaho to have a bad reputation. This is our home state. We love our home state. It's beautiful. We pride ourselves on our nature. We pride ourselves on our wildlife. And instead, we are continuing to do things that are… that are sickening.” - Ella Driever In 1995, wolves were reintroduced to central Idaho, and in 2003 a Boise High school called Timberline officially adopted a local wolf pack. Throughout the 2000, students went on wolf tracking trips and in their wolf packs range. But in 2021, Idaho's legislature passed Senate Bill 1211, 1211 allows Idaho hunters to obtain an unlimited number of wolf tags, and it also allows Idaho's Department of Fish and Game to use taxpayer dollars to pay private contractors to kill wolves. That means bounties on wolves, including on public lands. And in 2021, the Idaho Fish and Game Commission expanded the wolf hunting season and hunting and trapping methods. So it's not too surprising to learn that also in 2021, the Timberline pack disappeared. The students, the ones that cared about wolves, at least, were devastated. Last summer I went to D.C. with some of the Species Unite team for a wolf rally on Capitol Hill. While I was there, two young women gave a talk about what happened at Timberline in 2021. Their names are Ella Driver and Sneha Sharma. They both graduated from Timberline High School and were there when their wolf pack disappeared. Please, listen and share.…

Sami and Lauren, two international-school teachers, discuss the challenges, triumphs, and ridiculousness of living abroad in Barcelona, Spain.
Sami and Lauren only have 2 episodes left until they part for the summer! They chat about familial love and Lauren’s choice to stay in Barcelona over Xmas; Sami remembers her food obsession with sweet potatoes, which she no longer can digest; and the two topics are seamlessly tied together in sphinx pose by a Brené Brown quote: “Soft front, strong back, wild heart.”…
Lauren and Sami chat about how they can’t find spaghetti squash in Spain, how the desire to control shows up in their lives, and how finding balance in tree pose is an exercise in finding then releasing control.
Lauren wrote an original theme song! Sami has a big announcement! The ladies of The Landing Spot bring you a special Thursday night edition of their latest trials and tribulations. Lauren shares how she deals with heartbreak, Sami talks about the affects of water in Barcelona, and then the conversation comes to a HEAD in headstand.…
Sami and Lauren record another Brunch edition on the pod! Sami remembers a series of moments that shaped her perception of her body image and confidence; Sami also shares her sacred after-school salad tradition; and Lauren demos Downdog, weaving the metaphor to compare the practice of body confidence to the practice of yoga.…
We’re back! Lauren and Sami catch listeners up on the past month and lament how much they miss having a routine. Lauren talks about dating in Barcelona, Sami recounts a quintessential American date at McDonalds, and the two explain the importance of Savasana (corpse pose).
Lauren and Sami return to regularly scheduled programming with an awesome episode about struggles with hormone imbalances (which resulted in both of them losing and regaining their menstrual cycles), unabashed love for rotisserie chicken (which they eat on a weekly basis), and Warrior 1 Pose (a difficult yet basic posture). They recommend 3 must-read books and offer the idea that yoga means taking care of one’s body!…
Sami and Lauren just returned from a relaxing weekend away. They muse about their “journeys” and question what “returning home” means, denounce juice fasting, and acknowledge the scariness that comes with openness (felt in upward dog).
Lauren and Sami describe how they first constructed their identities upon entering Spain, share an appreciation for Vermuth and leisurely Spanish living, and use Warrior II as a metaphor to explore the difference between being an outside observer of one’s life and living integrated with all versions of oneself.…
Confession: Sami and Lauren re-recorded this episode after getting back in touch with their soft-spots. They walk the walk when it comes to being authentic and honest, and want their listeners to hear the truth. Sami questions whether relationship status is static or fluid, Lauren finds raw vegan cake not as grand as she remembered, and then they draw parallels through high lunge pose.…
Sami reveals pieces of her disordered eating past and undying love for Honey Bunches of Oats while Lauren identifies how threads of orthorexia began to emerge in her vegan experiment. They round off the conversation by getting into Cow Face Pose and emphasizing how yoga and eating (like most things!) are a practice.…
Lauren and Sami continue *opening up* in the Brunch addition of The Landing Spot. Lauren tells about sex and coming out in Barcelona, Sami describes her relationship with her Grandma Eddie and their shared love of CCCs, and the two recline into Hero’s Pose, the ultimate front-body opener.
Sami and Lauren return to talk about some “(S)painful” experiences with cultural norms, Paella trail lunches, and the power of a Forward Fold in changing one’s perspective.
Lauren contextualizes her relationship with anxiety and OCD tendencies, Sami describes her past experience with disordered eating and the road to rock bottom, and the two explore how half moon pose ties the two stories together: support and struggle are necessary to find lasting balance.
