In 1951, the CIA began giving civilians LSD without their knowledge under the secret project MKUltra. The US Army started their own LSD experiments under Operation Third Chance. Musicians like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Pink Floyd made music inspired by their LSD trips.
