“Sharing the Good News”
Today’s reading from Luke 2:15-20 continues the shepherds’ story as they respond to the angelic announcement of Jesus’ birth. Hurrying to Bethlehem, they find Mary, Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger—just as the angel had said. Filled with awe and joy, the shepherds can’t keep the news to themselves. They spread the word, glorifying and praising God for the miracle they’ve witnessed.
The shepherds’ celebration goes beyond simply marveling at the moment; they become witnesses and proclaimers of the good news. Their response challenges us to consider how we can share the miracle of Christmas with others. This season, as we celebrate with lights, songs, and gifts, let’s also follow the shepherds’ example by sharing the hope and love of Jesus.
Who in your life needs to hear about the miracle of Christmas? Pray for boldness and opportunities to share the good news of God’s love through the birth of His Son, Jesus.
What is Advent? It is the season of remembering and rejoicing. We remember Christ’s first coming as a baby born in Bethlehem and joyfully anticipate his second coming, when he will return to renew and redeem every part of the fallen creation. The Advent season is a time to reflect upon God's promises and anticipate their fulfillment.
Join us on this journey of hope.
