In which we discuss that one film GROUNDHOG DAY,
along with, among other things...
Some Other Type Groundhog Day Stuff
- Ebert’s review. Here’s a quote. Groundhog Day is a film that finds its note and purpose so precisely that its genius may not be immediately noticeable. It unfolds so inevitably, is so entertaining, so apparently effortless, that you have to stand back and slap yourself before you see how good it really is.
- Danny Rubin talks about how he came to write Groundhog Day
- Here, in The Guardian, a roundtable discussing how Groundhog Day is the “perfect comedy, for ever.”
Some Other Stuff of a Somewhat Related Nature
- The magnificent wonders of The Secret World of Alex Mack
- And of The Journey of Natty Gann.
- Here’s a quote from a review of Natty Gann: “While the movie has a woefully small fanbase (I’ve never met anyone else who has actually seen it), it’s pretty dedicated and mostly made of people who fell in love with Harry (and/or people who liked having a tomboy heroine, to be fair).”
- Ernest Hemingway said this one thing once: “If a writer of prose knows enough about what he is writing about he may omit things that he knows and the reader, if the writer is writing truly enough, will have a feeling of those things as strongly as though the writer had stated them.”
- That one film by Richard Curtis in which Andie MacDowell: Four Weddings and a Funeral
- Also Andie MacDowell was in Magic Mike XXL
- Some existential reading, to which I might add Sartre’s Nausea and, of course...
- The Outsider by Colin Wilson
- Moulin Rouge includes the song “Nature Boy” which includes the line: “the greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.”
- That one television show about an ensouled vampire: Angel. It is a wonderful show full of many existential conundrums. This clip from season 2 of Angel includes perhaps Christopher’s favorite epiphany ever epiphanied on television, or possibly anywhere.
Also. Also.
